Choosing an E-liquid Strength
Global health statistics have over the years shown that smoking is responsible for millions of deaths annually. This is perhaps a reason why habitual smokers will be looking to make the switch from smoking tobacco, to any viable alternative. The e-cigarette industry has become popular, and with it comes countless options which could confuse new e-liquid users. When cigarette addicts make the switch from tobacco puffs to the less harmful electronic cigarette, it is important to understand the levels and effects of nicotine in these devices.
Nicotine Levels in E-Liquids
There are different e-cig and e-liquid devices out there. The level of nicotine is a major factor for any user. For instance, e-liquids will come packaged in high, medium, low or nil strength measures. The strength of nicotine varies from company to another. Nicotine levels are mostly analysed in milligrams, which can be packaged in strengths starting from 6 mg, 12 mg, 18 mg, and 24 mg. While trying to understand the average nicotine strength, which will normally start at 12 mg, for such a measure, it means a user will have used 12 milligrams of nicotine in every milliliter of e-liquid.
Whereas knowing the specific levels of nicotine in e-liquids is important, it is even more vital to understand individual smoking habits. The heavier a smoker is inclined to the habit will dictate the level of nicotine strength that a user is bound to take up with the e-cig potion. For a light smoker, an e-liquid portion which has low nicotine strength is effective. If the said user has been a heavy smoker, they will be looking to start with high nicotine strength, and then work their way down. It is critical to get hitched with the habit of reducing the strengths, if there are prospects of giving up the puffing habits eventually.
For smokers who previously switched between heavy and mild smoking, it is advisable to switch again with low strength e-liquid portions to avoid getting too much nicotine and its respective adverse effects. It is advisable to take note of the levels of nicotine that you will probably take during different internals. The best way to find out the best levels of nicotine to take at different times can only be certified through personal experimentation.
More Is Not the Answer
At first, it is likely that first time users of e-liquids will go for high nicotine levels. This is mostly drawn from the need to tone down the harsh withdrawal effects. Most users will go for high strengths as a relief for discomfort, when the body can no longer get nicotine from tobacco. Notably, there is no need to shoot high levels of nicotine in your e-cig, since these devices will ensure you don’t suffer any withdrawal hitches once you make the switch. The good thing for low level nicotine is that you are less likely to fall into nicotine addiction, despite it being from a less harmful source. It is advisable to keep checking for the obvious symptoms that point to addiction including headache, vomiting, and light-headedness.
